We are looking to hire an experienced Utility Foreman with strong NCDOT experience to join our team! The ideal candidate will bring hands on water main installation experience, proven leadership skills, and the ability to lean established utility crew.
Looking for an established NCDOT Utility Crew:
Mainline Operator
Backfill Operator
Loader Operator
Pipe Layer
General Labor
Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and execute daily work activities to meet project schedules and quality standards.
Communicate effectively with crew members, project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, inspectors, HR, and other team members.
Prioritize safety above all else by ensuring compliance with OSHA, trenching, confined space, and environmental regulations.
Complete daily job site documentation including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), daily reports, equipment inspections, and confined space entry, trenching reports.
Read and interpret plans, specifications, and utility layouts related to water, sewer and storm installation.
Work independently and collaboratively with fellow supervisors and management.
Contribute ideas and field knowledge to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality.
Lead, mentor, and develop crew members through hands-on guidance and training.
Maintain high standards of workmanship and accountability on the jobsite.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Ability to effectively lead crews and manage manpower and equipment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to build positive working relationships with inspectors, clients, and internal teams.
Ability to bring an established utility crew (preferred).
Ability to work some night shifts.
Education and Experience:
Education: High school diploma or GED (Bachelors Preferred). Level 2 NCDOT Erosion CERT required.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in civil and/or site development construction. 5+ years in a supervisory role with a strong focus on NCDOT.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed most frequently outdoors in weather conditions that vary from freezing temperatures to heat above 90 degrees, in wet and dry conditions.
Work may be performed in confined spaces.
Some exposure to odors, gases, dust and dirt may occur.
The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
Lifting and carrying 10 up to 60 pounds frequently is required.
Lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Reaching and lifting overhead is frequent.
Standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling and reaching a majority of the time.
Work may include manual labor up to and including hand digging.
Some Saturday work is required. Sundays are rarely needed.
